On topic, I can't agree with you, OP, but to each their own! Personally, I'm so invested in EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in that series. During first reread of the series, I was pretty much furious at Lucivar for not being a broken mess from the minute he found out he falsely accused Daemon, to the minute he found out that Daemon was okay, until a friend of mine kindly pointed out to me that that wasn't the way Lucivar deals with grief.

Anyway, I never really liked Daemon or Jaenelle. For me, the Black Jewels Trilogy was always one of those series where I was reading more for the side characters than the leads — and there's nothing wrong with that, I don't think.

Who are the characters supposed to be? I'm guessing those are supposed to be wings on the one, so he's Lucivar, and the "pure sex" comment makes me suspect that's Daemon, but who's the other guy?

It's a shame that you don't like Daemon; though he is a bit Stu-ish to match Jaenelle's 20 on a scale of 1-10 Sue-ism, he's still pretty interesting to watch.

Ah, nostalgia. Those books were totally my guilty pleasure, though I liked the Pillars of the World trilogy better, later on.
