(Anonymous) 2024-12-28 04:26 am (UTC)(link)I, a Mexican who lives in Mexico will say this: Skin-color wise? Yes, Diego is white. But he is Latino, and for Americans, that means Poc. So saying in a USA context that Diego Luna is white? Is kinda insulting and racist.

A fair amount of what gets billed as racism in the US is rooted in bitterness about immigrants driving down wages, and incited by politicians and the wealthy. So, a lot of the "you don't have any business being here" is aimed at people for a whole range of tells that indicate they came from one of the (many) poorer countries. Or that their family did. It's not all about skin color.
