Huh, I've never disinfected my kitchen after preparing poultry. Is that a thing? I just wipe the counter down with dish soap as normal.

I clean at least on and around the area the chicken was prepared on.

It's news to me too, I have a set of cutting boards with one specifically intended for poultry and so I just cut any poultry on that cutting board and then wash it off with soap and hot water when I'm done.

Soap and water should kill salmonella, although if you're worried about bird flu or other viruses, you're going to want an actual disinfectant.
