One year, I did Secret Santa at work and put the title of the book I wanted. My Secret Santa got me a totally different book (one of those Barnes and Noble classics, when the one I wanted was a paperback romcom) and a gift card with seven dollars and twenty cents on it.

omg did they think they had to match a limit? like, the Secret Santa rule was to spend less than $20 so they bought a book that was 12.80 and made up the rest on a gift card??

I guess?? I was so confused, but at least they'd included a gift receipt, so I was able to exchange the book for the one I wanted ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
