Museums

What was the last museum you enjoyed? Or what is a museum you'd like to see?

Turns out there is a museum here in Oklahoma nearby that looks cool. Specifically a Museum of Skeletons. We're going to check it out tomorrow. Looks fun.

The last museum I visited was LACMA in Los Angeles. I liked it and it's next to the tar pits, so that was cool.

Oh that sounds fun! I love looking up museums in the areas I visit.

The last museum I went to was our local art museum, which I did enjoy. It's so-so but I appreciate that we have one and that it is mostly free!

I love museums! Some standout ones I’ve visited are the penis museum in Reykjavik and the torture museum in Prague which traumatized me. The Imperial War Museum in London is also fab. The most recent museum I went to is the Manhattan Project one which is actually in a children’s museum but also a national park. It was weird. I did get to see the real Manhattan Project museum a few years ago before they changed everything during the pandemic. They tore the real one down and moved most of the MP stuff into the children’s museum and everything else into a new museum that’s next door to JC Penny’s. The new one is about what you’d expect from a museum you can enter through a dilapidated department store.

I always enjoy the art museum that signs my paychecks every other week. XD

That skeleton museum looks really cool!! It wasn't my most-recent visit, but I had fun at the Science Museum of Minnesota looking at the dinosaur skeletons. I was also there for a specific exhibit about genes/race/racism that disappointed me in person, but they had a different exhibit on the same subject that was more informative and more interesting. Go figure.

the last museums I went to were in Japan and they were all worth it, even the castle museums in reconstructed castles. Osaka, Kumamoto, Ueda, Aoba (Sendai), and Odawara, plus the Miyagi Regional Art Museum in Sendai and the City Museum in Osaka, which was deserted on a Tuesday afternoon in March. It had some cool exhibits on the new excavations of Jomon-era archeological sites across the street.

in the US I'm only interested in museums if they have something I've never seen before, like a traveling exhibit or an interest I've just picked up.

The last one was just before the New Years. Exhibition about history and influences of an early 20th century style of art (early 20th century art is kinda my thing so it was a must)
Planning today to go to a weird exhibition about art and new age/fringe religions. Can be fun can be cringe, dunno. I love this art centre though.
My friend has this idea to go to a contemporary art exhibition to a different city. I am debating on it - it's 4 hours ride, the weather is atrocious and winter is for sleeping in. But I love the idea, it sounds like our ways to spend some time.

Oh that's cool!

Before Christmas me and my brother took a day trip up to the Field Museum in Chicago, IL. We've never been and it was fun! But it takes us 3 hours to get there and back so we were both getting tired after a few hours. There's so many museums in Chicago to see, small and large. You'd have to stay overnight a few times to visit them.

I've wanted to visit the teeny Statue of Liberty museum that's in Indianapolis (!) https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/indys-teeny-statue-of-liberty-museum

It's in Lincoln, MA.

Lots of dog friendly hiking paths where you can see massive sculptures of all kinds.

I was recently at the Morikami Museum in Delray Beach. They had an exhibit on Akira (architecture-focused). Several of the original cels were on display.
