IDK, I don't think he's "more generic" than most of the other New Who Doctors, personally? Less so than Davison or Tennant imo.

Huh, that’s not a take I’ve heard before.

I’m not sure what is meant by generic/whitebread in this case. He seems like he has his own little quirks and quite a different “vibe” than the recent Doctors.

I haven't seen any of his Doctor's run yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if this were true because of the practice of trying so hard not to be offensive with a minority group that you take no risks at all and that makes a boring character.

I agree. The actor is very charming but the character is super passive.

Ah, maybe that’s what they meant.

Passive makes a lot more sense to me than generic.
