It's great anon, you should watch it! And then just re-watch the series again from the start to numb any pain. I was skeptical at first but it was a great wee spin-off/prequel series in the end.

I did and it was wonderful! Very touching, I teared up a bit when Morse and Friday parted. I'm sure the whole series will be a rewatch for me, but in the meantime I started watching Inspector Morse from the very beginning.
