nayrt and not being sarcastic, just not into MCU much. What was the difference in characterizations you didn't like? I'm not really a fan of Whedon's work in general, so I don't know what he did.

In the first movie Steve commits a felony in the first five minutes. We learn it is not his first. He goes against orders and goes AWOL to rescue his friend. He has a multi-ethnic team in the 40s. He does what he thinks is right, regardless of the authority structure he's in. He's in his early 20s.

In Whedon's movie, Steve (still in his early to mid 20s) calls other adults "son," says there's only one god, and objects to colorful language.

Basically he takes a character that was very progressive and turns him into a regressive 50s caricature.

Ohhhh man, I remember the "there's only one god" line. I cringed so damn hard. No idea why Whedon still got so much credit for being some kind of genius writer...
