I'm a minority and a recruiter in the corporate space and I'm not seeing much of that these days. Hiring managers are WAY more concerned about specific experience/certs.

A fair number of hiring managers/HR people are also minorities, which helps in the sense that it's not good ol' boys bringing in their frat buddies.

Yeah, this tracks with my own experiences too. Recently two of my friends were on the market for new jobs, one white with a completely whitebread American name and the other Latina with a distinctly Hispanic in origin name. The one who ended up getting the most callbacks/interviews was my Latina friend, most likely because she had several certifications that were directly relevant to the jobs she was applying for.

There's a benefit along with the drawbacks of AI filters, and that they're looking for keywords on resumes and not, y'know, what color people are.

It's still very helpful to network and keep in touch with people you have worked with or your clients or whatever because a lot of hiring takes place because people think you're reliable and pleasant or whatever, but businesses are accountable to the bottom line and they really do want to hire the most productive person and not nepo hires MOST of the time.

Yale's Skull and Bones society even refuses to take in any new members who are related to old members anymore. So the old boy network has already been fatally crippled.
