Book recs:

Fledgling by Octavia Butler: if you're okay with the fact that she loves her some romanticized age gaps that are okay because "children can't consent" doesn't apply to the fictional species it's about (this isn't a criticism, just a fact; I love her writing)

Let the Right One In by John Lindqvist: if you prefer your age gaps shown as predatory, and a predator who tries to excuse his actions by invoking the very trope by telling himself the child is Really 200 Years Old.

I'd just like to see more versions of immortal species/creatures where that immortality actually has an impact, where living for millennia affects who they are as a species and as individual characters.

Also, just, more genuinely alien species/creatures. Ones that just think differently completely from humans, have really, really different viewpoints/morality, and are even maybe not understandable by humans and can't really understand us either.

NEAR DARK! A lot of Homer's decisions were dumb af which made sense given he was turned as a kid.

Had an unexpected wisdom tooth removal today.

Went into dentist today because the gum behind my bottom wisdom tooth was swollen. This is the first time this has ever happened. As soon as the dentist saw me, he said the wisdom tooth should be removed. I was freaking out since I've never had any kind of surgery, was alone, and I'm a highly anxious person. Started shaking but agreed.

He said I should remove the top wisdom tooth on that side as well but I just couldn't. I was already starting to have a panic attack. They numbed me up and gave me nitrous (but it didn't really help). I almost started crying (I did have tears occasionally down my face) and was shaking the whole time.

Thankfully it seemed to come out fairly easy and I'm not in too much pain, even 8 hours later. Questions for anyone else who has had one removed.

-Should I have gotten both out?
-How did you get over dry socket anxiety? I'm scared to drink or eat. And I'm trying to keep all food on the opposite side. No straws, etc. I'm scared to swallow my own spit, lol.

I was really spaced out after and didn't ask as many questions as I should have. Kind of shocked they let me drive. Lol.
