That pixie will always be a favorite of mine because of the backstory: she was in talks about her salary and the studio was trying to bluff her so she called them on it. Cutting her hair super short was a big "I can walk away from this any second, watch me" move. Usually that kind of extreme cut has to get clearance by the studio.

I agree about liking the in-between hair. The long hair looks kind of scraggly to me. (Plus once it's long they use extensions to make it look fuller, and those can be hit or miss. I still love the detail that Mayim Bialik asked not to wear extensions as Amy because it really helped with the dowdy look next to Penny and Bernadette.)

She cut it for another role. That’s it. It’s that simple. There was the option to wear a wig for Penny until it grew out but the producers were cool with the pixie so she rocked it.

Wait, I didn't know that about Mayim/Amy. That's so cool and such a good character detail! (I also have a shit eye for extensions because I would not have guessed that was the difference just looking at the three women.)
