What? No. That game was late 90s and the ozone hole dates from the 70s. Public awareness and action dates from the mid 80s - I remember learning about it in primary school.

yeah but the 90s was when the fear mongering set in about using roll on deodorants instead of sprays and other aerosols to help close it and the reduce-reuse-recycle slogan came into play. the save-the-whales campaign was huge. FF7 fits for the time.

No it wasn't, I'd finished school by then and my entire high school years were about that. And I'm Australian, so we were near the ozone hole. The CFC ban came into force in 1989.
