2. I feel your pain. My friends are into shoujo and comedy anime, I'm not, and trying to pull them into something I like once in a while always fails. Probably because I like series that take more than one braincell to understand, and we're all too damn ADD to sit down and concentrate on something.

4. I know the feeling, but to be honest? The "they're just being nice" thing is all in your head. If people are complimenting you and they don't sound like complete idiots while doing so (à la "omg ur reely gud i luv edgey"), it's probably legit. And I doubt any of them are comparing your skill to hers, too. At least, I never do anything like that.

5. I had a similar experience. I friended a fic writer I love for one of my fandoms, and I ended up really really liking her. ...But now she's left Livejournal. And even though she gave forms of contact, I'm too shy to try and talk to her outside of LJ comments T_T
