You're painfully right anon, you have no idea. I can't understand how someone like him can be with someone five leagues beneath him in the talent department. I watch David as Scooter and cringe with embarrassment for Neil. And the chemistry between them is just... gah. It's not even the chemistry between Barney and Robin, it's them outside of their roles, even outside of the cast dynamic. I don't know why we're happy to slash a straight actor but feel it's taboo to write het about a gay one, it's such a fucking moronic double standard.

Because he actually tones it down sometimes, how he feels about her. Because there's a deeply confusing but equally deeply unmistakable flicker of guilt when he doesn't, when he waxes on and on about how much he loves her and how beautiful she is. Because he finds himself toning it down not just in interviews and at dinner parties, he fights to control it the most around David and his stomach churns when he realizes what he's doing.

Because he doesn't know what to do when the thought pops up, unbidden and unwanted - maybe if I had met you all those years ago, you would have been enough. And maybe you're enough right now.

I understand the fun in RPF shipping (and I wholeheartedly ship Neil & Cobie), but to so vehemently believe they ACTUALLY belong together and draw from such absurd reasoning is borderline creepy.

Yes, David's acting was atrocious as Scooter, but in what world should NPH be basing his relationships on talent? The way he gushes about him in interviews is sickeningly sweet, and while I think it's obvious he has a crush on Cobie he has yet to come even close to talking about her in the way he talks about him. I think it's pretty clear he could care less about the guy's acting chops.

Oh I don't believe they actually belong together, don't be ridiculous, this isn't about tinhattery. I'm just saying that there is a huge case for them to at least be written together, double that of other popular RPF pairings.

Why do you think it's so hard for actor couples to stay together? And I'm not even talking about NPH being a proper star (again) while all David has managed is bit roles (one courtesy of his boyfriend) that are already ancient history. I mean, he hasn't even been in a play since 2006. Of course talent and smarts play a huge role in how we value our partners. It's not the only parameter, but it's an important one. And it's not as though I'm criticizing his 'civilian' boyfriend's acting talent, I'm criticizing his ACTOR boyfriend's talent. Christ, this is their mutual chosen profession we're talking about here - and one of them sucks at it.

Although you might want to take into consideration that David isn't even acting anymore (except for the random bit parts on HIMYM). He's been going to culinary school for the last year or so, and in the last interview I read with him he was talking about his internship with Mario Bertolli.
