It is such a pet peeve of mine when people make fan/character playlists and it's just full of songs the creator likes but doesn't actually fit the character. But you're right that some of them still have great songs.

I feel like some folks just latch on to current or past popular songs because a lyric stood out to them. But in general, we humans don't have the best track record of closely listening to songs.

Now I’m wondering how people pick songs for their fannish playlists. I tend to pick songs for my ship playlists based on vibes and sometimes lyrics.

Hard agree. I love going through fanfic writers playlists, especially if they're short and curated, because it reveals a lot about what the author associates with what character and why. Like what is so special about this one song? What does it have to do with a fic the author is working on and so on.

I don't nearly ever agree but it's fascinating to discover other people's associations. And it's always a delight to find out like-minded people also have good taste in music.

I've heard that the reason major hotel chains keep the pay-per-view porn services available during Evangelical conferences is that they make the hotels a ton of money, especially the gay stuff. Maybe it's something like that; propriety in public and forbidden fruit on the downlow.

After all, under the Victorian morality and propriety, there was a huge boom in prostitution and pornography in the 19th century.

It's odd for me that this is the second time I've heard about this streaming site - the first was literally watching a video about Butch Hartman by Saberspark, mentioning it while trying to find Hartman's new kids show on there.

I love this version of Emma! Not my favourite but still pretty high up, top3 maybe. And perhaps a controversial opinion, but I think this Emma has the best dance scene (iirc it was in episode 4?) in all of Jane Austen adaptations ever made, and I'm pretty sure I've seen them all (sans the missing BBC adaptations that didn't survive the fire)

I think Romola Garai's Emma and Cher from Clueless are the only versions of Emma (the character) I find charming instead of insufferable lol

That would be my dream scenario. I've always said it's not that I don't want kids, I just don't want to be pregnant and birth them. Nooooo thank you.

As to the actual content of the secret - we all have our obsessions and tropes we will read over and over and over and over again and apparently for Bujuold it's babies and the multitude of ways to aquire them. I get it if you don't like it, but it seems pretty norm for an author to have tropes they return to.
