In other news: I fully support GMs running pre-written modules. I love randomly generated fantasy names, and even the occasional randomly generated map. But if you couldn't bother to write something why should I bother to read/play it? etc

I only disagree with your last point because there is tons of DMs who are amazing at improv.

I just think they can come up with better stuff than AI does.

Improv is still "writing it" out of their own head, it's just doing so on the fly. I don't think their objection is about whether or not it's thoroughly planned in advance, but offloading the creativity to something that can't actually be creative.

AI has been very strong in ttrpg spaces sadly, especially in Solo spaces. Granted it's a better random table than GM, but it's still sad since I feel it stunted the "non-authoring" solo parts of it.

I also kind of learned to shut up when it's brough up.

I have a friend who's usually all "Save the planet! Yah yah" but she's taken to selling AI generated images as stickers or diamond painting kits, and it's been months now. I keep hoping she'll... move on from it, but I had to mute her because she started complaining about crypto bros contacting her and she's like "I draw the line at crypto!" and I wonder why AI is ok for her then.
