Knowing nothing about this person, this is a very bad photo of him but he seems totally average looking in every other photo I can find?

+1, he seems fine? Interesting face, pretty symmetrical, nothing outstandingly bad? And Selena Gomez is on a lot of medication (lupus and a related kidney transplant) which can affect how she looks pretty drastically, so maybe she'd rather date someone who is ordinary looking rather than get "hot guy too hot for Selena" headlines?

Right? It's...interesting how looks obsessed people are that anyone who isn't modelesque is immediately deemed ugly.

You can't be average or just OK. You have to either be gorgeous or ugly.

even without seeing other pictures of him I can tell this is a bad picture - his face is all squinched up laughing (which is the best reason) and it makes his teeth look weird but like. obviously he's a normal dude with a roundish face

also I am very into guys with super fluffy hair like that. he's not typical-model gorgeous but depending on taste, there are attractive things about him!
