" It’s also the highest open for any Captain America movie yet: the Steve Rogers-led movies respectively made $65.1 million (First Avenger), $95 million (Winter Solider), and $179.1 million (Civil War)."

From the article. That well enough for ya?

Not once you adjust for inflation, so no.

Ah, you're one of those guys who will always declare it a flop and manipulate any data any way you can to do so. Gotcha.

DA

I'm sorry you don't understand how money works.

nayrt, but it's not clear if all those totals include worldwide totals or not.

And waiting to see how it does over the course of several weeks isn't "manipulation," it's getting a more accurate picture of how people like it.

Whatever you've convinced yourself, kiddo.

Interestingly, the budgets are about the same despite being filmed 15 years apart and one being post covid, post inflation. And still NWO is outperforming the original. I think a lot of MCU fans and even the general public forget that Captain America wasn’t hugely successful either commercially or critically.

But: NWO isn’t an introduction film of a niche character in a budding universe. It’s a continuation of a decades long property showcasing an established character who has been in films before and even had a television series.

I’m really interested to see how the numbers fall and, like it or not, it’s too soon to tell.

That assumes that the reported budget for BNW is correct. Disney has lied about such things in the past to make the financials look better than they actually are. I'm inclined to doubt the 180 million figure myself just because there were so many delays, rewrites. production problems and reshoots, including adding Giancarlo Esposito's character and completely scrapping Teo other characters, as well as changing the entire look of another character.
