Re: Protests
(Anonymous) 2025-02-17 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)Don't wear contact lenses to a protest, btw. Gas or spray can get underneath them, and that can really fuck up your eyes, plus you'll need to replace them. Beanbag rounds and/or rubber rounds can force them into your eyeball, creating even more damage. Same with watercannon spray. Plus, if you have rarely worn glasses with heavy rims, wear them and they'll make it a little harder for you to be identified. The Clark Kent effect is real, people.
Final thing. Virtually nobody plans to go to a violent protest or a riot, but that doesn't stop a peaceful protest becoming one; especially if the cops are determined to fight one. Get any large group of people together, for any reason, and it can spiral real quickly to violence. You don't even have to do anything. Stand next to someone who, unknown to you, heaves a brick at the cops... well now you are a known associate and accomplice. Worse if they had better identity disguising measures than you and can't be found, because the cops know that politically they have to arrest and prosecute someone and you've just made it easier for them to do it to you.
