Certainly when I was at school there was a whole 200 years of our history just skipped over and then mentions of the empire existing without further delving into what that actually meant. Couple that with the rule Britannia parts of the culture and you get brits who don’t know a thing about our history outside of ww2. And at least for me the thing is when it comes to historical programs/movies that have brits or the English as the bad guys I often think we don’t get portrayed as bad as we could.

Like when I was listening to RRR music on YouTube a few years ago there were some huffy brits in the comments mad that the movie showed the British army as the bad guys, but all I could think is that the sweet British lady existed and how that’s a lot nicer than we’ve portrayed other countries and cultures in our media past.
