I've been feeling there's something wrong with the way his Doctor is written (look, I never liked RTD in his first run either... but there were more non-RTD writers doing episodes during his first run to provide some better material) but I also don't know much of Ncuti Gatwa's other work so maybe his acting does have an impact as well...
