I'm sure there are plenty of PC users out there who don't use their computers for much more than that either. It has more to do with the user than anything, doesn't it?

I think they were referring to the price-tag rather than the usefulness of Macs.

Mm, true! My immediate gut reaction to comments like this is just "ffffff does this need to be MAC VERSUS PC HOUR 8("

I probably could've gotten a PC that fills my needs and spent less money than I did on my MacBook, but I'm more comfortable with the interface and and when I buy a Mac I know I'm going to get a good five years of use out of it, so that was worth it to me. I'm just in the camp of "buy what you like and don't be snide about anybody else buying what they like!"

Exactly. I like PCs, therefore that's what I'm going to buy; consequently, I have friends that are Mac users, and I'm not going to be snide to them. Not seriously, anyway :p I mean, sure, we'll joke about how one has the better OS, but it's all in good fun.

I've never bought a PC with the expectation that it wouldn't last for at least five years.

Fair enough; I haven't used one in long enough that I don't know what the average lifespan was. So I don't mean to come across as LOL PCS DON'T LAST so much as I was saying that since it's a long term investment, I don't mind spending the extra money on the system that I'm more comfortable with using. I hope that makes sense?
