What kind of rescue is it? There is one in my area that charges nearly that much but there are legit reasons behind it and they’re upfront about it. Basically, the fees pay not only for the dog you rescue (including all of its care up to the time of adoption) but also funds transport to low stray areas, specialized treatment (about half the dogs have heart worms when they get them and it’s about $5000-7000 these days to treat them), and an impending facility upgrade.
