I hate how common A/B/O and breeding kink is for ships, regardless of orientation. I know, DLDR and YKINMK, I don't read it and I don't say anything to people who do like that. But it's frustrating how people can't seem to imagine a sexual relationship that doesn't involve reproduction.

Yep. Also how abo has to almost always contain breeding kink and impregnantion even though it's not actually a requirement. I'm not a fan of abo in general but I may have been convinced to read one or two that exlore the societal roles thing but they almost always have to contain pregnancy and often untagged because that's just how much that's part of the genre.
And surprise untagged breeding kink in non-pregnancy stories is an instant backbutton for me as well. Smut scene and someone says anything about breeding/impregnantion, that's such an insane turnoff.

AYRT - It's also confusing how the terminology has changed for "breeding kink"? Years ago I saw it used for dirty talk without a condom, more of a roleplaying thing. (I mainly like F/F and M/M, not into fankids or pregnancy.) But now it means actually kinking on sex that leads to impregnation and whatnot. I quite enjoy the former, but not the latter. It seems unfair even for M/F ships to make it all about having kids and getting pregnant.

The thing is that I've seen it played straight in the old meaning AND in the way you mention so I'm not really comfortable touching any of the stories tagged like that anymore because I just don't know which it will be. I'm not into the kink version either but can tolerate it when I know 100% that it will not actually lead to a pregnancy. But that's not a given anymore the way the term is misused these days.

Yeah, all that focus on reproduction and [Character A] is [This Role] throws off my immersion and it's not sexy or romantic or engaging for me, so I simply don't read...buuuuuut too often I spend all my time scrolling past or back buttoning because all I get are A/B/O type fics. ='(
