I am the opposite, Rei/Minako is my all time Sailor Moon OTP, Ami/Makoto I am iffy on, just because I tend not be big on pair the spares.

Funny you say that, to me pairing Minako/Rei was pairing the spares, and it works out well. :)

Well, for me it is that I am a manga over anime fan, where I felt Minako and Rei were the more paired of the two.

That and I adore PGSM for Rei/Minakoness

I've read part of the manga and I think that in both anime and manga Ami/Mako and Mina/Rei work out without "shipping the spares." Again, I've only read and seen part, but I don't mind, really. They're my top two pairings to the end. :)

I just meant the pairing of Makot/Ami feels like pairing the only remainin people without a love interest. Yeah and I don't really ship it either, just because it does nothing for me, Rei/Minako and Chibiusa/Hotaru are my big not!Haruka/Michiru SM femslash ships.

I loved that manifesto! Even though when I write or feel like reading Rei/Minako stuff I tend to crave PGSM related works because that is where I have the most fun playing with the pairing.
