You go, OP! It's really hard. I've tried but it's never worked for me. My IRL friends will reluctantly agree to check it out, but then they never do and just keep my DVDs/books/whatever for months or even years (sometimes forever) without ever paying attention to them. Or they check it out a little bit in order to pretend they liked it, even though it's obvious they still don't know the first thing about it. And of course, my relatives just make fun of me and use any fandom-related thing they know I enjoy against me, as "proof" of what a loser I am. I stopped talking about fandom with anyone IRL years ago.

You managed to do something that for me has turned out to be impossible, so kudos to you, and sorry for sounding so gloomy. :)
