So I tend to think of it as a luxurious step up from backpacking. I've done long (several months long) backpacking trips and was happy, so a van would just be the same but with an actual bed and kitchen etc. I am happy wuth a pretty minimalist set up. I think I'd be happy doing it for a year or two, but not a lifelong thing for sure.

I've talked to so many vanlife dreamers and doers before it was an internet trend and it has been really funny to see it take off online because the online people are nothing like the people I've met offline who love the vanlife. It is definitely a weird thing to want and enjoy.
