I hear you, even as someone who loves fic. But that's only one aspect of fandom for me. It really bothers me when people act like writing fic is the only way to be fannish.

In fact, I'd say I have very few fandoms I've actually read or written a lot of fic in.

I'd like to like fanfiction more, but I struggle to find ones that I really enjoy. They're mostly very ship-centric and that's the primary focus... not plot, not characterization, not anything else. I'm lukewarm on romance in general, but I don't really enjoy a shippy romance where the characters barely resemble their canon counterparts and it feels like you could change a few details and the names and this fic would work for lots of different fandoms.

I do love fiction, but there is way more to fandom than that. I love discussions, headcanons, just loving on the thing we share together.

For me, I love fic because good fic feels like an extension of the canon. I love the canon and want more of it! But when the canon itself is over, then I turn to fic to give me more of the characters I love in interesting new situations.

I like fanart too and have tons of gorgeous saved fanart, but a pretty piece of fanart just doesn't really hit the spot that a well-written, in-character fic does.

I read a fair amount of fic, but never written one.

However, I have written analysis and made diagrams or other data visualizations. I’m all for more of that kind of thing! There are so many interesting and fun ways of engaging with a story.

I'm definitely a fic person, but one thing I really enjoy about fandom on Tumblr is all the art! It was the first platform I was on fannishly that made posting art as easy as posting fic. I'll miss it when it's gone...

I am guilty of thinking fic synonymous with fandom. I know it isn't true, but I think my early fandom was so centered on writing and reading fic the two are now entwined in my brain.

I read an archived LJ meta dischssion last night that reminded me of my early days in fandom. I was in awe of people who had intelligent discussions about what we were all watching, and those contributions made fandom so much richer.

These days, I don’t know if I’m saying anything intelligent about the shows I watch, but I’m certainly talking about them. :p

I read a lot of fic and have written in the past, but discussion is the most important aspect of fandom for me. It’s part of the reason I love Reddit so much! All of my fandoms are there and they're all meta centric. Art gets posted in most of them, too, but honestly I really dislike the art styles of every fan artist I’ve seen so I always scroll right by. Some of the subs have fic posted in them but not often and some don’t even allow it; it’s a given that everyone knows to go browse AO3 if they want fic.

All the european union had to do was stay the course and not give in. The stock market was devastated and the economy was dying. We could have won this. He would have been dead in the water but they betrayed us. They sold out the entire free world and now I don't even care what happens to them anymore. Let putin have them if that's what they want.
