Even if there *was* UST, she was such a bland boring character I wouldn't understand it either. She was like a slightly less dramatic Bella from Twilight.

Grissom had more chemistry with literally everyone else on the show.

i understand it not as a lack of chemistry but as "weirdo chemistry" which is where two people are fundamentally weirdos in ways that bounce off each other but also make them suited to only each other.

The only thing I liked about them together was their ship name. When Sara's feelings were one-sided, that was kind of interesting, for a while. Them together just seemed so flat. I thought Sara had more chemistry with Nick and Grissom had more chemistry with Catherine. I mean, Grissom had a ton more chemistry with Lady Heather, but if you were sticking with a main character het romance, then Catherine. Hell, if they needed a romance and het wasn't almost automatic, I would say Grissom had more chemistry with any of the original main characters than he did with Sara.

I only watched about a few seasons of this show but when I found out they got together later on I was truly baffled because their dynamic was just so devoid of life. There was no spark and considering the age-gap and the fact that he was her mentor(I think? Correct me if I'm wrong) it should have made for an interesting dynamic but it was so nothing, lmao.

I did some CSI rewatching earlier this year, and I had almost forgotten how little chemistry these two had. I think Grissom pretty much had some chemistry with everyone but Sara.

Ha! This is highly amusing to me as a gamer who’s been perpetually online since 1994. I have always only known it as let’s fucking go and it’s as natural to me as LOL, omw, and even asl. But I’ve never been into the kinds of games where I’d need a group to play because that’s the exact opposite of fun and relaxing to me.

Have you ever seen “I Married a Witch” (1942) or “Bell, Book and Candle” (1958)? They both feel a bit like a Bewitched prequel, especially BB&C.

OK, I can take some of this one:

I don't know EXACTLY what you're referring to as "Actual" transgender / queer characters, this could be a "We made this character gay now!" stories, and I have different more specific issues there, but the biggest general disconnect I can describe between "I'm ok with this" and "Fucking knock this shit off" would be East vs West. And Even then only modern West.

Like think any anime with a gay character and see what they are: They're gay. They like buggery or clam-smashing. That's about it. And then they get on with the plot.

Now think about gay characters from modern stuff. They're gay. And the plot is more often than not some variations of how much of a victim of society and homophobes they are, about how there are evil straights who are not accepting them, and how sad that makes them and how things need to change and the audience needs to DO. BETTER. There were one or two of these types popping up in the 90s or 2000s, and I could accept that narrative being pushed into a show or movie I like because really, it just wasn't super saturated, for the most part the average gay stuff was like Tara and Willow. Other than Tara's family there wasn't really a whole lot of gayngst. I dug that. I really dug that kinda story and that kind of gay character. And it's just not what writers seem to wanna do. You can't as easily use the gay character as a shield for criticism if there's no "straights are homophobic" narrative.

Or in the modern stories, one of the most bad ass gay characters is my absolute boy Kim Kitsuragi. ZERO lecturing, Zero "gays are victims of the evil straights", just an absolute Chad trying to steer his brain-damaged partner.

Along a similar line, Gay Perry from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Total Chad. Zero angst. Derringer resting next to his cock.

Or anime, Outlaw Star has one of the raddest gays in fiction: Fred Luo. No angst, no lecturing, just fun and games an bullying his terrified hetero debt slave. You make a new character in any series like Fred, and you have my word I will have NOTHING to say about him.

I'm a bit Column A/Column B with this one. I wouldn't know the answers to those things either. However, I know enough Austen aficionados to know those are things I should know. They have Austen-inspired teas and wear Regency-era costumes.

Are forums still a thing? You might be a bit happier there. Reddit tends to be a mixture of devotees and casuals, regardless of the subject at hand.
