film!Starship Troopers... film!Starship Troopers...

A film made by someone that lived through a fascist regime in Europe, showed a satire in how a militaristic government would doom its populace, and should have become crystal-clear post 9/11. Even works based off Heinlein's book kept displaying the fact the Federation is awful, and a propaganda machine that is losing the war due to their own stupidity they refuse to backtrack.

Now it has fans that insist it is not fascist ackchyually, that would legitimately want that system of government, that the right to vote should be limited, and that soldiers being sent with peashotters against murdering bugs would be cool.

My bet? Same reason as the kind of morons that would like the dystopian worlds of Warhammer 40k, Halo, and Star Wars to be a reality: It's an age where satire and meaning flies over people's heads due to a lack of education, and people wanting to imagine themselves as the badasses instead of the people living for months in a mudhole only to die by a sniper round.
