I use it to communicate, "I liked this!" to the author and to any other readers who might look at the kudos list. If I like something enough to leave kudos, I'll push myself to leave a comment, too, but sometimes just don't have anything else to say.

I post fic myself, and ngl I don't love the idea that some people use kudos to mean "Welp, I got to the end." But I take it as a risk of posting that I can't control how people interact with it.
