i loved the movie. didnt like the second one much though

I loved them too. I mean, it's not super intelligent or whatever but it's a good way to keep myself entertained for a couple of hours and that's why I watch movies anyways so it's perfect.

I have a feeling you're about to be joined by a billion Eli Roth fangirls. You might look back on this time as preferable!

Well, I did finally decide to check it out because Eli Roth was in Inglourious Basterds. Why not, right?

I never saw Hostel 1 and 2 until, well, yesterday and today. I have no idea why-- I love gory horror! I actually liked the second one better for some reason- more 'humor' in it.

Nice idea... poor execution. No pun intended. Well, maybe a little intended.

I didn't think people hated it, people just thought it was horrible and offensive--I mean, like, it has a lot of fans, and people who don't like it hate it not because it's badly done, just because it's so fucked-up and disturbing. Personally I can't watch that kind of stuff, but I have great love for Eli and it sounds very original, so I have to give him props. I don't have to find it enjoyable for me to call it "good," but that's just me.

Meh, well, I wasn't offended, I actually didn't like it because of how it was done. I'm actually perfectly cool with "fucked-up and disturbing" movies and stories, and, well, I actually kindasorta consider "gorn" a guilty pleasure. (Most people would never figure that out about me, actually)
I just thought the story and characterization was...lacking. That's all.

I liked it. Yes, it's 'gorn', but screw it I like gorn as long as it's well done.

However in terms of Eli I still prefer Cabin Fever. Dennis forever.

Apparently, that wasn't a wig. Rock on, little man. One day you'll get those pancakes.

It's not a wig. That's part of the reason he got the role, as well as his crazy karate.

I actually don't mind gorn at all, but Eli's movies kinda bug me, for some reason. :/
But I still find Dennis awesome, of course!

Yeah, as I think I mentioned in one of the threads for this secret, the movies bother me because all the characters seem so stereotypical and, well, flat. But I realize it's not about the characters, it's mostly just about seeing them die, so I guess it isn't supposed to matter....

Oh Hostel. I still that movie is bad. To be honest, it freaked me out for a good while until the girl with the eye hanging out of her socket. Then I laughed.

A pretty neat premise though.

Haha, the white stream of gunk coming out of the eye socket after the guy cuts it off is actually the only thing in that movie that grossed me out.

Oh, I thought I was the only one who didn't like it much, actually :/
But my reasons have to do with the fact that the main characters were all just stereotypical, shallow college-aged kids, and none of them had any sort of character that made me really fear for them. Yeah, I felt bad for them and all, seeing them screaming like that, but the movie seemed like nothing but an excuse to see them get cut up.
