Cliff Richard has been around since the beginning of the universe.

Ever hear of liking older men?

Oh, of course. But this is Cliff Richard we're talking about. Your grandmother probably likes him. He is an indestructible force of badness. If I did a poll - "would you rather sleep with Cliff Richard or William Shatner?" - the results would fall unanimously in the Shat's favour. Even though he's older, wider and... older.

Hmm, I guess I don't really know much about Cliff. The only time I think I even listened to him was when he was a guest on Steve Jone's radio show. Scary that the Shatner would be a more appealing choice......

William Shatner had bedded famous ladies. I would be willing to bet that an affair with him would not be analogous to a very large wardrobe falling on one's body - a very large wardrobe with a very small key in it.

Judging by the episodes of Star Trek where he wore leggings, it would be a large key.

Meanwhile, Cliff Richard... how can I describe Cliff? He started out playing Skiffle music. He is too born-again Christian (mind you, I am from a country that distrusts open and passionate outpourings of religion). His music is impossibly twee. At least William Shatner butchers decent songs.

I wouldn't know; I enjoy Dvorak*. Now that guy wrote the happiest music in the world, and if only I could write the Czech diacritical marks in his name, I would be even happier.

The most depressing music I listen to is Leonard Cohen. My mother got me into him, which is further evidence that my mother is amazing.

A lot of people like "Devil Woman", including me. That song and anything mocked/murdered by The Young Ones is the extent of my Cliff Richard knowledge.

I recall watching American Psycho 2 (awful, yes, but I was young and had a crush on the lead actress) and Shatner had a role in that. The thought of the leading lady, Mila Kunis, having to pretend to seduce him in one scene... ugh. That was what it made a horror movie in my view.

I get what you mean. Cliff is one of those arists who, has he got older, lost more of what actually made him an artist.

Well, you never know... there are a surprising amount of people my age who find him strangely appealing. I'm not one of them. He looks a little too much like he'd have an unexpected heart attack, amongst other things.

Cliff Richard just intensely annoys me and 98% of the population of the UK by living forever and being hopelessly twee and overplayed. (Try not hearing Mistletoe and Wine at Christmas. It is impossible.)

OMG-Cliff Richard secret!!! This makes me so happy. Mostly because I'm an American and I've spent over 20 years trying to explain to people who he is, usually by humming Devil Woman and We Don't Talk Anymore. I think he was absolutely stunning in the early days. (I've totally fapped over Expresso Bongo) He Still had it through the 80's and even into the early 90's. Now I think he's gotten a bit stringly looking, but I still love him madly, buy every single CD or DVD I can find and would KILL to see him life. Unfortunately the chances of him ever playing the States again would seem to be exactly NIL.
