I dunno, I just can't see it ending well in the long run. They were pretty cute as a fling, though.

I always thought they had a good yin/yang type of chemistry, too. I thought it would make for a very interesting, and never boring, romance.

Margaret/Charles was one of my first ships! I've always let myself believe they got together back in the States, somewhere down the road.

I can definitely see it.

They're funnier together when they're enemies, I think. IIRC they fucked in the movie and gave us the line "kiss my hot lips" and that's just not something we needed.

You're not alone, I like Charles/Margaret too. Meanwhile, I've never understood Hawkeye/Margaret, so I feel alone in that!

I never got Hawkeye/Margaret either. I mean... she was way way better than that, even if she did clearly make bad choices when it came to me.

(Don't get me wrong, I loved Hawkeye, but she deserved better. She deserved way better than Frank, too. Or Donald.)

My problem with Hawkeye/Margaret has always been that she's far too high maintenance for Hawkeye, but you make a good point. I think Hawkeye has plenty of potential when it comes to relationships, but as he himself said in Who Knew? he has a problem with opening himself up to the possibility of really loving anyone out of whatever fear or insecurities he has. And after the likes of Frank and Donald, and even Scully, she definitely deserves someone who compliments her.

They're actually my favourite M*A*S*H ship. It was "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" that made me realise it. I felt their goodbye was far more moving than Margaret and Hawkeye's lame kiss (I mean, c'mon, they just kinda pressed their faces together for 30 seconds). And in my sad little mind Charles wrote out his feelings for Margaret in the book he gave her at the end. :B

That kiss was so pointless (and passionless). The only reason for it I could think of was that it was like a reference to the earlier seasons when he'd grab her and kiss her randomly (and perhaps to Henry kissing her before he left?), but otherwise, it seemed completely out of the blue, especially after Comrades In Arms. A Charles/Margaret kiss and a Hawkeye/BJ one for that matter would've made infinitely more sense.

Well you have a couple who agree with you but I find their romance boring and like them better as friends/enemies. I couldn't see the long term of them together, the same as Hawkeye/Margaret.

It's hard to see the long term of Charles/anyone, since he considered everyone so beneath him and especially since he couldn't bring himself to make a great relationship work with the French Red Cross worker, simply because she had lived with a man she wasn't married to. His too high standards really make shipping tough.

That said, I was actually considering the idea of a Charles/Hawkeye fling the other day. I always love the episodes when they actually get along (like the one where Hawkeye's father goes in for surgery).

I always thought Margaret would make a stellar Mrs. Charles Emerson Winchester III, once Honoria and Mrs. C.E. Winchester, Jr. got done with her. *g*
