And to be slightly offtopic--where is all the ASoIaF fic?! I haven't been able to find any (and I looked through all of westeros and asoiaf, I think), although there is a good bit of fanart.

GRRM is anti-fic. The fandom, for the most part, respects his wishes.

Whatever you do, don't check out

notafanficcomm. It's not totally about ASOIAF and it isn't reputed to be awesome.

There's also

westerosorting (where 90% of the ASOIAF secret posters come from, I'd wager), which totally doesn't have a members-only art community.

Is the horrible bowl cut canon?

I don't think so. From what I remember of his introduction he was described has having somewhat long and curly hair. I always pictured him as a ginger actually.

Shit yeah. He is the best character. By far and away, the best character. Kind of depressing there's no fic or art about him. But I guess that's what happens when you build a fandom culture primarily around female sexual preferences & desires.

I actually find the "female side" of the fandom much more tolerant of Sam. Male oriented fans seem to concentrate on the badass warriors, in my experience. Generalizations, I know. But my point is that the experience is subjective.

With all these secrets later, I've gotta say this-

Seriously, whiny asoaif fans need to get a clue. Write/draw/request or shut up.
Stop complaining about what other people are into. It's a small, easily impactable fandom. But whining just makes you annoying, no matter where you are.

I don't know the fandom, but he's kinda cute. And he has a pet raven, it seems. That's always a plus.

I'm only halfway through the first book (IT IS MADE OF AWESOME!), so... who is this? I'm so curious.

All joking aside, though... yeah, the author has requested no fic. I'm not sure why that's stopped anyone, but it's kind of nice to see.

I agree that there would be more fic if GRRM endorsed fanfic. But maybe not. It's a small fandom.

Unfortunately, this is probably true. I'm pretty sure more of the slashers in the Eyeshield 21 fandom would be shipping Hiruma/Kurita (and maybe Musashi/Kurita or Kurita/Sena, etc) if Kurita were a normal weight and was as "omg hot" as the rest of the cast. It's kinda depressing, but...

Are all these secrets being submitted by the same person? Because they look really similar, and I'd never heard of this series until a week ago.

Probably a troll trying to wank up the fandom.

I wrote a Sam POV fic. Find authors/artists you like. Request. That's the beauty of a small fandom.

You're probably right because fandom does tend to go for the pretty but on the other hand, I find Sam's chapters the most boring in the series. Granted, I'm only halfway through the third book and things may change but at this point I really wouldn't be interested in Sam fic or art. Though maybe someone else could make him interesting?
