Oh man, I almost forgot about that comic! I loved it, and saved most of the pages to my computer because her art was so lovely.I suppose the silver lining is that you've gotten inspired to work on your art, even if you don't think you can match her. :)

Jen Wang -- and other talented artists -- make me feel incredibly embarrassed of my own drawing ability. Of course, she probably draws constantly and I hardly ever feel the urge to draw anything. I can't force myself to draw when I'm not feeling it, so my art quality suffers from lack of practice.

It's like, I love looking at wonderful artwork but it always makes me feel bad about myself afterward. :(

I find myself doing the same thing as you, but I think you've got to find time to just scribble something down each day to get back into practice. Comparing yourself to people who do art constantly both for fun and for work is just going to hurt your confidence imo.

(And by the way, I had a look at your art and your style is really cute! <3 I wish I was in the Gundam fandom so I could recognise more of your fanart.)

Thanks for the praise! I have trouble with anatomy -- I have to admit I was a lot better at drawing when I was majoring in art, and I'm always meaning to check with the local universities and see if any of them have life drawing sessions open for the public, but I keep putting it off. :(

Aww you should start doing it again! I find it hard to get to life drawing sessions myself, so I use Virtual Pose (http://virtualpose.net/) and Posemaniacs (http://posemaniacs.com/) to practice. With Virtual Pose, I'm too cheap to actually buy the poses, but if you sign up to their newsletter, they send free rotatable poses every now and again. And I found some of their old freebies here (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7767895) as well.
Sorry if I'm being a little presumptuous in giving you the links, but it always saddens me to see other artists in the same position as me where you become intimidated by what's out there and start to give up on your own work :(

Unfortunately, that was also the comic that made me stop reading webcomics. I loved it so much, and it was never finished. I then realized that was the fate of most webcomics. :(

STRINGS OF FATE! Oh wow, this totally made my day. I used to obsess over this comic in 7th and 8th grade. I think I even have some of the chapters saved on a floppy disc somewhere... My internet connection back then was too slow to download the whole thing. Even to this day I occasionally find myself wishing that this webcomic was finished. :(

Jen is one of my...favorite, FAVORITE artists ever. Ever since I found Strings of Fate, when she was still updating it. I miss it so much. I, too, will never be a good artist, especially not one like Jen, but I definitely want to try using more of her fluid lines :)
