...Yeeeah, I'm somehow doubting that even future!Dean would do that to Castiel. Besides, future!Cas seemed pretty down with the concept of sexing up a half dozen ladies all on his own - I'm pretty sure he'd have been more reluctant if the whole thing had started off with non-con and druggings.

Besides, what good would it have been to have potential vessels running around? There were all of two angelic critters left on Earth: Castiel and Lucifer. Cas was largely powerless and Lucifer already had his chosen vessel, so what would have been the point?

In terms of the secret, it was an angsty plot based on the spoilers, the facts you mentioned were in the actual episode, so they wouldn't have been considered.

As for what future!Dean would or wouldn't do, it depends on the circumstances. Dude tortures, but for information. He kills coldly, but to protect the rest of the camp. He sends his friends on suicide missions, but... it's to save the world (or what's left of it).

Honestly, if it's going just based on what we know of Dean and not of future!Dean, the concept becomes ridiculously OOC and is beyond preposterous. Dean counts Castiel among his very few friends; I can't ever picture him thinking that drugging Castiel and having him raped would be a good strategy.

I agree, future!Dean was a cold, cold man but what benefit could there have been for this? Future!Dean seems to ultimately be pragmatic; he might dirty his hands if necessary, but there's going to have to be a damned good reason for it first.

The whole episode's portrayal of the future seemed pretty preposterous to me, but miles vary.

Obviously the 600x600 space alloted for the secret wouldn't allow for details to be put in without it becoming a wall of text. So I guess jumping to the whole rape thing would be understandable, but I was thinking something more complicated than that. Also, the word "whore" might've been a really strong word, it was just the shortest and most convenient thing to use.

If you actually wanna know the though processes behind this, bear with me for a sec? Or don't, it's ok.

Castiel could have been completely consenting and willing to go along with this crazy ass vessel plan, but it's a hell of a thing to go from angelic being to doing orgies, the drugs would have facilitated that. It was all really just an exercise of figuring out how the hell you get from present!Castiel to druggie/orgy having Castiel. The secret is just what came out of that. Why would you have orgies? To make more vessels. Why would you have drugs? To make being an ex-angel baby-maker more bearable. Why would Dean allow it? Because it could help with the apocalyptic struggle. That's all, that's what I came up with.

OOC or not, crazy or not, miles vary I guess. I thought everyone was kind of OOC in this ep, but apparently 5 years is a crazy amount of time in Supernatural. Dean became a different person in 5 years (despite him not really changing from the 40 in hell too much, or the 30 before "breaking").

I agree that the future was preposterous, but that's why I'm certain that it was a construct of Zachariah's and not a vision of the actual future. Everything seemed geared towards forcing Dean's hand in granting consent and, subtly in Castiel and Chuck's cases and considerably more explicitly in future!Dean's case, everyone seemed to go out of their way to show Dean what a mistake he was making in resisting and why he should just give in already.

See, if Castiel consented and was aware of what was going on, it wouldn't be nearly so squicky a concept for me. The automatic "NO" in my mind came from the idea of Dean turning his best friend into a whore, with the implication that he was drugging him into submission. It's the idea that Dean would ever betray someone he cares about in such a fashion (or really, anyone at all - even our Dean has been willing to get his hands dirty before, but damning someone to a life where they're addicted to drugs and forced to be a breeder) just didn't fly for me.

IMHO, future!Castiel turned to drugs because the euphoria he could find in them was as close to heaven's grace as he could get as a mortal. There's been plenty of cultures who have used altered states of mental being as a means to force a connection with the divine, after all.

TLDR; the concept as you outlined it here makes far more sense to me than the idea I got from the secret itself.
