I wonder if this is in reference to the Male Character/You thing that got really trendy in the past decade.

People don't write trans fic because they "see something feminine" (or masculine) in a character, they write trans fic because they like trans fic and they will write it about their faves. It is the way of fandom. You have a kink or a trop you love, you will squish it onto every character you love.

I think most of Bob Fosse's choreographies look kinda dumb, actually.

I always thought the actors were good, but the movies were bad. They were very obviously kids movies and kids are the majority of the audience that liked them. Those kids are now grown up and have mega nostalgia tinted glasses.

Same here anon. It's not my thing either. I don't look down on people who head-canon Metal and shadow & metal that way. To each their own.

Hope your physio isn't too brutal (my sister goes and is sometimes sore for days). Is it an author you've read before?

I don't care for trans headcanons and I like headcanons that make a character the opposite gender (ex. a male character into a transgirl) even less, but I kinda get the motivation.

1. Exploring a potential path a character could take (canon character being repressed, realizing they are unhappy with canon gender)
2. Wishing there were more trans and/or girl characters with their personality
3. Fanartists wanting to make an alternative design
4. Self-projection and validation (slightly annoying but easy to avoid, IMO)

Not hard to understand. There are reasons for it that can be corny (ex. the people who treat fandom like politics and claim any male character they like is actually a girl because "men are icky), and motives that are reasonable. *shrug* Although I think metal Sonic is a weirder headcanon to me than Shadow, since robots don't even have genders.

This is the first weekend I'll be at home in awhile, so major clean up is needed. If the rain holds of, also major yard work is needed.

You just reminded me, I've gotta finish my last crochet project. It's such a winter activity for me and as soon as the nice weather started I just lost all interest, but it's only like an hour or two of work probably left in it.

Wow, 200k+ words and zero comments seems like a huge imbalance to me. I can't think of any fandom I'm familiar with where there was a drop in popularity for a trope THAT stark.

Oh jeez, there are very few 200k+ epics that are actually worth a kudos, nevermind ones with Fave/OC pairings. No guilt in the world could make me slog through all that!

I was in my late 20s/early 30s when the books were coming out, and I don't think any of us were standing in line at midnight for quality writing. We just had to know what happened next.

I've reread them in the past few years, and I still enjoy the later books (5-7). They check off all the enjoyable archetypes of the hero's journey.

Just generally sore. No serious injuries, but my back and neck are pretty strained. Thankfully the other person's insurance took full responsibility, so no fight, and I can get the PT and everything without worrying about it. My car is pretty bad, though. Waiting to see if it is repairable.

I know fighting and rivalries are supposed to draw fans in, but I prefer the seasons of Top Chef where the contestants get along well. I actually dislike the drama.

Don't know about Shadow , but I dead-ass thought the whole " metal sonic is a transgirl" thing stemmed from the fact that in Sonic heroes he wore what appeared to be a leather skirt (more of a loincloth really).

I stumbled upon the show Zoe Bakes one sleepless night and I find it pretty bland but I have watched nearly every episode because it's soothing, comforting, and lulls my insomniac self back to sleep.

Idk, what I'm getting from this is books 1-4 are mediocre to you and you don't enjoy them, which is more than half the series.

Unless the TV series is starting at book 5, I don't think the secret re: book quality vs movie quality makes much sense?

School is fun (when you're just reading about it at least)

I mean lbr at the 200k mark the writers are, or should be, writing for themselves. If you're churning out 200k on the chances of getting comments that's all sorts of doing things wrong
