She's refusing to eat

We don't have the money for an emergency vet

This is how I feel about most competition shows. I'm more interested in the competition, the skill, than I am in them fighting each other and the drama.

How much would an emergency vet cost? I could probably send you 1-200 if you had paypal or something.

Yeah, I was all ready to enjoy that spin-off and it was just so bad! The episodes that they used to soft-launch it were fine, so I don't know why it was such a flop.

I'll have to give it a read! I enjoy urban fantasy and scifi.

They're not my jam, but I think it's hilarious that a bunch of randos online think they're smarter than the acclaimed book critics who praised HP in its heyday. The books don't have to be your jam either, it's fine, it doesn't mean they're mid.

Love the pic for this secret!

I actually disagree and think the earlier books hold up better than the later ones for me. The early ones are more 'charming children's literature,' no better than they need to be, and very enjoyable for what they are: books for children. When the series started to get serious is where I feel like JKR's weak worldbuilding and poor grasp of writing romance started to leak through. Stuff that I think worked in the early books, because you were supposed to just treat it as silly fairy tale style stuff that you suspend disbelief for, were suddenly treated like serious worldbuilding in the later books and that just doesn't work.

I usually skip fics on A03 that have more than a handful of tags. Tons of tags is, for me at least, a sign of a weak story.

+1

Great comment, you explained the reasoning for the headcanons well. Plus people who really like trans!fic and find a way to make a trans!AU of their faves for that reason. It's fine if it isn't for you, but there are a lot of things to have fun with in trans headcanons, I can see why even ones I don't care for are popular.

If a show's cast is wholly compromised of stereotypically, conventionally attractive people, I'm less interested. I prefer a wide variety of looks.

Way more than that. It's okay. We're looking into Scratchpay, which helps finance emergency vet visits.

Bingewatching Top Chef is actually making me a better, healthier cook at home. I'm using more fresh produce and a wide variety of spices.

Secret: I went to the Paula Deen restaurant.
Bonus secret: The food was pretty mediocre but I still had fun browsing the gift shop.

I thought the set design and music were great, plus how the effects were used to build the setting, some scenes are so memorable. I haven't rewatched in a long time because it's just not really my thing anymore but still remember lots of details.

I never finished Bojack Horseman, as much as I liked that show, because the Mr. Peanut Butter and Diane divorce storyline was happening the same time my ex-husband and I were going through our own acrimonious divorce. Maybe one day I'll be able to go back and finish it.

I miss the solid brick wall between fandom and TPTB. I can handle ship wars and Battle of the BNFs but seeing an actor for a show I like pop up in the fandom kills the whole show for me.

I totally get it. My girl is my baby too, and when she's not doing well, I'm not doing well. I hate seeing her in pain.

(Anonymous) 2025-05-17 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Not really? I'm literally the anon that started this thread and it is about books vs movies having similar overall quality in comparison to each other, like the secret talked about.

Whether they are entertainment at all or not is something only you brought up.

I also don't get it when the ideal character for gender exploration is right there *points to Knuckles*

No animals were actually harmed during shooting, but iirc Shadow's animal actor and voice actor died shortly after. I still can't stand watching Sassy go over the waterfall.

I don't care about Harry Potter, but this bums me out.

My parents loved The Wizard of Oz and Heidi and The Sound of Music. I didn't need modern adaptations with different actors and special effects to be able to enjoy these just as much as they did.

Are kids just more entitled now? A movie series that ended 14 years ago is too ancient for them?
