I miss the solid brick wall between fandom and TPTB. I can handle ship wars and Battle of the BNFs but seeing an actor for a show I like pop up in the fandom kills the whole show for me.

YES. Ugh bring back that solid brick wall please. Make fandom less mainstream and get the actors and TPTB out of it.

I blame AO3 for it, and their constant degrading the concept of copyright. In the old days, fandom was scared to engage too heavily with creators because they could shut them down. That was a good thing. I think in the long arc, we will come to look at AO3 and their anticopyright campaign as a mistake.

So if AO3 supports copyright, if an author issues a takedown notice against a fic or requests that fics set in their universe be removed, AO3 will honor that? Will it?
