As an old-school freak that has been in the Sonic fandom since the late 90's/Early 2000's, It makes me sad to see that the Sonic fandom has been gentrified by Antis and bullies who want to santize fandom. Nowadays you can't ship Shadria,Sontails or whatever without some anti harassing you for shipping "incest" . Don't get me started on the age wank over the ages of the Sonic characters. Someone even argued that Metal Sonic, Chaos and Mephiles are "Kid- adjacent" . I blame the Sonic movies for the rise in age wank. Back in my day nobody really cared about how old the Sonic characters were. Everything was fair game back them.

I remember squabbling over slash ships on dA in the 00s, but I swear it got even worse with Tumblr. Even before the movies happened, people were obsessing over the ages that vary by continuity and claiming ships that weren't a big deal before are problematic or pedo. I saw a zoomer on Twitter make a scene about what some of the IDW artists draw off the job, who cares!!! Sonic characters barely resemble real people!

Yep, that's the kind of stuff I used to see. The funniest part is besides the little kid characters, there is no difference between the 14-16 year old characters and the young adult 18-20 year olds behaviorally or design-wise. Rouge and Vanilla are the only designs that ping as "adult" for obvious reasons, but otherwise what's the difference between Vector and Espio or Jet? I don't even think Sega takes these ages serious when Knuxouge has been teased a few times in the anime and I found Sonamy merch at work months ago...

And this franchise has been around for over 30 years, so even if we were to take the cartoon character ages as law, what's wrong with making them older?? Let Sonic be 34 lol

I'm not even close to the Sonic fandom I just played the games as a kid, but I figured that they were all adults for whatever the fuck species they all are given how they act? I only see the movie versions as more kid-like because of their behaviour but I'm also not going to balk over anyone shipping them because I don't care.

I'm already not into the fandom, I sure as fuck not going to be telling people in it what to do.

Honestly who would have thought that in a 30 year time society would have evolved from capitalist men with a capitalist men agenda claiming that a blue hedgehog cartoon is the same age as their target audience (conveniently and saving the world doing adult things etc) and that there’s a pink hedgehog who’s a girl obsessed with him

To teens fighting over uhh the fact that the pink hedgehog whose only trait at first was being obsessed with the blue hedgehog actually shouldn’t be because they’re supposedly a kid (they’re a pink hedgehog made of pixels) and that people who uhh play pretend with their little pixel fox and blue hedgehog and say they are in a relationship are horrible humans
