I only know about Handlebars by Flobots because of a Doctor Who fanvid, but I love the song on its own. So now when I listen to it I get a good song plus a layer of nostalgia for a good fanvid.

I also learned about Tegan & Sara from a Buffy fanvid and a love was born.

Off To The Races by Lana Del Rey, though after finding the original song I much, much prefer the edited version for the fanvid and just ripped that.

So many! Love Me Dead by Ludo, it was in an LxLight AMV I saw when I was 11 or 12 that has since been deleted (there are others iirc with the same song but that video is sadly lost). Truth Beneath the Rose by Within Temptation, Strange and Beautiful by Aqualung, Animal I Have Become and I Hate Everything About You and Pain by Three Days Grace, idk what else, it was my favorite way to find music in middle school. The Real Slim Shady, lol.

It was my favorite way to find new music for awhile too! I'm still sad that fanvids seem to have waned in popularity. Or at least I don't see them as often.

I got introduced to t.A.T.u via Hetalia fanvids!

Thinking about it, I also got introduced to Fergie by way of a Yu-gi-oh fanvid set to "Big Girls Don't Cry" that I remember being really good. Sadly it looks like it's been taken down.

Three times now, that fanvid has popped into my head and I’ve had to try and google the song title again from some scrap of half-remembered lyric.

lol! I've had that happen with so many songs from fanvids and then I'm searching for the weirdest combo trying to figure out the song. It doesn't help that most of the vids are scrubbed from the internet.

Was recently introduced to The Crane Wives by an Utena vid that used The Moon Will Sing. Their music is right up my alley and I've been listening to all their albums.

I was introduced to most music I like that was recorded after 95 by fandom. Poker Face by Lady Gaga is a standout for me. I’ve since heard it in stores but at the time lived somewhere that didn’t have that kind of music in stores. For years I only knew it from a Doctor Who fanvid

There were so many pre-2009 because a lot of AMVs and videos with slide-show song lyrics were the only songs available to listen on youtube for free, before music companies realize that they could be making money by posting official music too.

But yeah, pretty much Linkin Park's albums Meteora and Hybrid Theory through Naruto and various anime amvs.

Two Steps from Hell because of fanvids. Seven Nation Army from a Winter Soldier vid. Labour the Cacophony because of a fanvid. So many great songs!
