My beef with Shrek is that it started the trend of "mid-level animated kids' movie with pop song soundtrack" and boy are there a ton of those. And every time the pop song soundtrack makes the movie much worse.

My beef is with the (first) sequel-- I LOVE Bonnie Tyler, and every time I see someone say the Fairy Godmother's Holding Out For a Hero is 'better than the original', I bite my tongue but I am FILLED with an irrational level of upset about it.

What fandoms are you coming across that trope in?? IA it's squicky and totally understandable that you nope out of anything involving the trope, but I see it very rarely in my fandoms, I can't recall the last time I saw anything like that tbh (though I do regularly stumble across the "physically young, mentally old" trope). Are there some big fandoms with canon mental de-aging where it comes up in fic a lot?
