Re: Secrets you don't want to make...
(Anonymous) 2025-05-24 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)The best thing Mark Laidlaw ever did was releasing his treatment of Episode 3 and I wish he'd have a backbone about it. Valve has been shitting around doing absolute fuck all with this fucking franchise and they were completely silent about it and refused to give updates or even acknowledge the series until Laidlaw released Epistle 3. Mark says he feels guilty because he feels like he made it harder for Valve to make Half-Life games. I say GOOD. They deserve to have their lives made harder and jerking Laidlaw around for over a decade. It is GOOD that they were humiliated and exposed by Laidlaw releasing Epistle 3.
P.S. I'm certain we would not have Half-Life Alyx or the rumored upcoming Half-Life game if Mark hadn't done what he did. Valve seems to have been under the impression that gamers simply forgot about Half-Life and moved on. The outpouring of grief upon reading Epistle 3 and lamenting that we never got to see it seems to have been the single fucking thing that moved them off their pathetic asses.
