It's definitely a YMMV thing. I adore his choreography, which he developed in part to make up for some of the physical shortcomings he had. But it's definitely an acquired taste. So when I say You Do You, Nonny, I say it with a great deal of respect.

When this was posted in the comments secret thread, a nonny said they were waiting for it to be posted so they could take issue with it. I know absolutely zilch about choreography except that I know Fosse is a famous choreographer but I was still looking forward to the drama.

Growing up as a kid, “Normal People scare me,” was a mantra for me not necause l was an edgy teen. They really did scare me.
"Normal People” are the ones who made my life a living hell. Fandon was my only escape.
“Normal People" would harass, bully, turn people against me and even try to get me expelled because they did not like me for being "weird".

Real, true, correct. Honestly think people who mock shit like that for being cringe are just straight up still trying their best to be high school bullies.

(I feel similarly about "not like other girls". Like maybe sometimes that means "I think other girls are stupid/shallow", but ime it more often means "the other girls have made it extremely clear that they consider me a gross freak".)

I didn't realize that was how I operated as a kid/teen until recently looking back on my youth.

I've always been terrified of other people. I'm afraid of hurting others as well as being hurt by others.

I've had my naivety used against me in really cruel ways. Surrounded by people who would rather blame me for "being weird/difficult" than acknowledge assholes being assholes because it's easier to let rudeness slide than call it out.

These days I try not to place "normal" onto other people, because we are all flawed human beings. No one is better than anyone else.
But it is worth noting that people who punch down on others are people I don't vibe with, because they normalize asshole behavior and so they call that "normal". When really it's assholes who have never been held accountable wanting to keep things that way so they can never feel bad for being awful people.
A part of growing up is looking back and realizing your bad behavior and wanting to do better, so you hold yourself accountable by apologizing when needed and doing better regardless.
Some people never grow up.

I think you're right. I just finished reading Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell and What Feasts At Night by T. Kingfisher. Both are queernormative settings and have, respectively, an asexual lesbian protagonist and a nonbinary protagonist. The worldbuilding and identity incorporation in the first one made no sense to me—it was medieval but they had terms like "allosexual," which are not just modern but arise from a very 19th century sociological history, and wouldn't necessarily occur to a goo-monster who hadn't spent much time around humans. The latter was a world closer to ours temporality but she subtly included organic worldbuilding elements, such as the use of special pronouns for God and priests. While it was clear that the protagonist was nonbinary from context, it was also clear that being nonbinary meant something a little different and more specific to that setting than it does in ours.

Obviously people who have a problem with queer and trans identities in general would have issues with both, but if the issue is worldbuilding and immersion, there are ways to do it that feel like they fit the setting and not just Tumblr.
