Thank you.

If the service is Lap of Love it can vary between regions. We thought we were getting shadow boxes but we didn’t.

Would your sister or brother in law appreciate urn jewelry? I wear a bracelet and my husband has a necklace. There are a lot of styles out there. We both chose fairly plain and masculine styles although I’ve since decided I would like a super girly bracelet, too. The super girly bracelets have better sizing than the masculine ones.

Some of the pet memorial markers are fairly general purpose. Our neighbor gave us one that’s just a heart with “You left your paw prints on our hearts” stamped on it. We set it in his favorite place in the yard.

I also mentioned above in reply to the other anon about using a keepsake box for the cards we received and I’ve since added other things to it. You could get one personalized or one without. You could also order a regular one and separately order a personalized plaque to add later if you wanted to personalize it but that option means it would arrive too late.

A friend from high school posted on Facebook about a month ago saying she was going into the hospital, and wouldn't be posted for a while. Nothing's been posted since, and I'm not sure what to do. One comfort is that she WAS being hospitalized for a non-life threatening (but still urgent) medical issue, as far as I could tell. (She was having trouble with her leg.)

I like to think someone would have told me if something awful happened, but we haven't spoken outside of Facebook in years. (No real reason, we just grew apart, as you do.) We do have some mutual Facebook friends, but if they do know, I'm not sure they'd think to tell me. And her family's pretty anti-social media, so I can see them deciding not to say anything. On the other hand, when we *were* friends, we were extremely close (at each other's places every weekend close), so you'd think her parents would try reaching out.

Not sure what I'm looking for, even. Comfort? Encouragement to ask someone? I might reach out to her sister.

Yes, I've checked local obits etc. But again, her family is so against anything being put online.

A+ 5 star no comment movies

I just finished rewatching The Princess Bride and was freshly reminded how perfect that movie is to me. Everyone brought their A game, even the bit parts and background actors. Sets, costumes, script *chefs kiss*

What are examples of "perfect" movies for you?

I'm not sure if they are using Lap of Love or a local company (there are a couple). I think I will look for something for her front garden since I don't know if she'd want jewelry. But an outdoor plaque or stepping stone that is customized would be appreciated.

I plan on crocheting her a stuffy of him but I am a slow crocheter so I might give that to her on the memorial of his passing next year.

I wouldn’t do custom to be honest. Like anon above, mine was a regular sympathy card from the card rack at the store. It was what they wrote inside that mattered.

In case you are like me and never know what to write in a card, here was the formula most everyone used:
They basically said they’re sorry for our loss and also it’s a loss for everyone who knew him. Then shared a memory of him and tied it to his most outstanding trait (friendliness in my dogs case). Then said they were happy/lucky/privileged to have known him.
There must be a website that gives the outline because I just checked and every card follows that same formula LOL It works so well though. Even comparing them all side by side, each one makes my heart sing.

Thank you! I absolutely have no clue what to write. I've been using reddit to make sure I don't say anything stupid to them. I'll check walmart tomorrow to see what they have and mail it Tuesday when the post office is open.

The Lion King, Schindler's List, The Thing, and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Yeah, and it's also irritating how many writers of historical fiction or secondary worlds based on Earth-historical cultures have no sense of nuance about the issues. Either it's "any LGBT person would be horrifically murdered by any straight cis person who found them out" or it's "these cultures actually accepted LGBT people who defined themselves exactly the same way as they would nowadays, and the evil reactionary historians covered it up". Eg classical Romans basically defined two sexual orientations - "straight male top" and "everyone else" with the latter being considered seriously inferior, but works with LGBT people in Ancient Rome tend to go with "it was just like enlightened modern people".

I think it would look nice, and would also reduce the number of ends to tie off by half so win-win!

Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa 2. I don't hate him (still don't like him, but don't hate him) in UDG or DR3, since his 'almost 9 billion people are worthless scum, but the handful of dozens that Hope's Peak recruited are infallible' nonsense isn't as on display, but...ggggggggh.

If you don't mind me asking Secret OP, what made you choose Kilmarnark?

I don't watch football anymore, but I still enjoy hearing people's history with the sports team they support.

(Anonymous) 2025-05-25 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She’s fantastic. When she has a real tirade it’s often kind of despicable and relatable at the same time.

(Anonymous) 2025-05-25 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Real, true, correct. Honestly think people who mock shit like that for being cringe are just straight up still trying their best to be high school bullies.

(I feel similarly about "not like other girls". Like maybe sometimes that means "I think other girls are stupid/shallow", but ime it more often means "the other girls have made it extremely clear that they consider me a gross freak".)

Ngl the annoyance of tying off and switching colors so often is a big part of why I was thinking of changing it up. I asked on reddit and everyone who has answered said not to change the pattern, that it would look weird, but I can't get over the idea that it could look kind of neat so I appreciate your support lol

I might just give it a try and if I don't like it frog those rows.

Uggggh DW won't let me comment, it keeps trying to do the captcha but there is no captcha to do. Let's see if it works on a different device.

It's definitely a YMMV thing. I adore his choreography, which he developed in part to make up for some of the physical shortcomings he had. But it's definitely an acquired taste. So when I say You Do You, Nonny, I say it with a great deal of respect.

I was lucky to be a weirdo in a small class that I'd been with since kindergarten; they knew who I was, and a remarkable number of them were also weirdos. I still had some difficult times (although I discovered at my 50th class reunion that everybody truly liked everybody else). I can't fathom the cruelty that a lot of folks had to survive. You guys are amazing, and I salute you, for beating back the rotten people, the bullies, and the highschool stains on humanity.

This is valid. There are so many "classics" I only know basic plots of because of Wishbone.

The only reason I know Bible lore is from Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.

wild take, but

I think Buffy and Angel are the worst characters of their respective shows.
