Yeah. I hate this tendency of mine to silently question anybody I see now who gets all enthusiastic about a popular thing now. I'll think, "wow, were you like that BEFORE all this shit got commercialized, or are you a real fan?" And it's like... nobody fucking likes a gatekeeper on any level but at the same time it's frustrating that some folks can't read the room. And it's making it harder and harder to find people who not only know the rules and are still actually going to be around when the current "fad" ends. It's like we have to create an even more secret space now, which is hard to do, given how easy it is to find stuff nowadays. Not to mention it feels mean and exclusive.
