Oof, that's not a great smell to deal with at all; my condolences anon.

I once managed to bake a orange cranberry sweet bread that was burnt on the outside, and raw in the middle - and when I saw raw I mean like "viscous lukewarm batter from the bowl" raw. The cross section was black - half an inch of decent crumb - liquid. Have yet to repeat that atrocity and still not quite sure how I managed.
