as long as they're tagged so I can filter but hoooooly shit how many are just not. reading the summaries to find out that it's a /reader fic is enough brain damage sometimes.

I'm genuinely asking out of curiosity here, but what fandoms have an abundance of this kind of reader/CC fic? Because none of the fandoms I've been into in the last decade have ever had much of any of this kind of fic.

I'm not saying it's not happening, I'm just really curious to know what kinds of fandoms are inundated with this kind of fic as I've never seen it.

Depends on where you are. Ao3 doesn't have many and they are tagged. Tumblr has a ton for an6 populat character.

Honestly like... I expect it in big fandoms, to some degree. I saw a lot of it in the Stranger Things fandom.

I'm shocked every time I see it in my small-fandom-for-an-older-piece-of-media, though, and there's a fair amount.

That makes sense to be fair, I haven't been in a Big dominating fandom since the early MCU days but I didn't see that kind of fic when I was there, but we are talking almost 10 years ago. I guess fandom culture has changed since then and there's more reader/CC fic than there was back then. I maintain that I've likely just gotten lucky in my fandom choices in recent years.

I search by tags for what I'm in the mood for (h/c, kinks, soft AU, etc) so I can't name a specific fandom. It's all fandoms, cross-referencing a subset of certain kink or pairing or subject tags. Which, honestly, makes it weirder? If you're searching for, say, m/m h/c with some specific flavor regardless of fandom and in the first 20 results are easily 5 untagged /Reader fics.

I’ve seen a bit of it in fandoms for gacha games where the girls dress skimpy.
