Fanfic research time.

I need a timeline on an injury recovery in two different time periods.

Injury is a below the knee, mid shin, amputation of one foot for a fifteen year old female character following a vehicle wreck and subsequent fire.

How long would it take her, assuming access to good (but not cutting edge and superrich) upper middle class rehab and medical care, to recover enough to walk with a prosthetic, and from there learn to partake in athletics with that prosthetic?

I need to know timescales for late 1990s/early 2000s, and also for the same injury happening in the late 1940s/early 1950s. Setting is NE USA for the former, and SE England for the latter.

If anyone can help, let me know, please. And thank you.

If you check out the history of the Paralympics and Stoke Mandeville hospital, you will get some good information on the earlier timeline. For the later one, you might want to find a Paralympic athlete with a similar history.
